考土 code -奄美-
Mikke Galleryでは2025年6⽉27⽇(⾦) から7⽉14⽇(⽉) まで、Mikkeキュレーターズ・コンペティション受賞者展の第五弾として、「銀座もとじ」⼆代⽬店主・泉⼆啓太⽒をキュレーターに迎えた展覧会「考⼟ code -奄美- 」を開催いたします。
銀座もとじは1979年の創業以来、⽇本各地の染織作家や⼯房、産地とともに、着物⽂化の美と精神を現代に伝えてきました。泉⼆啓太⽒は、染織の可能性を広げ、未来へとつなぐことを⽬的に2022年に⽴ち上げたプロジェクト「HIRAKIproject（ヒラキ・プロジェクト）」、「FUYU」、「泥中の布（でいちゅうのぎん）」を開催するなど、これまでの活動の中で、⾃然が育んだ⼟地の記憶と向き合い、固定概念にとらわれず、柔軟に伝統に対峙してきました。
本展では泉⼆啓太⽒がキュレーターとなり、6組のアーティストによる新作を通して、奄美の⾃然と⼈、そして染織の未来を多⾓的に捉えることを試みます。
「考⼟（こうど）」というテーマには、奄美という地を起点に、⼈々が暮らしてきた⼟地に宿る記憶や、そこに根ざした素材、技法、価値観に改めて向き合うという視点が込められています。アーティストたちはそれぞれの感性で奄美の⾃然や⽂化を掘り下げながら、他の⼟地にも通じる普遍的な問いを投げかけます。⼟地の「コード（code）」を読み解き、編み直すことで、過去と未来、個と地域、伝統と創造のあいだに新たな接点を⾒出すことを⽬指します。
―2023年、奄美大島に滞在した山﨑は、島の自然や祭事、人々の暮らしに触れながら、土地に息づく文化や風土への理解を深めていった。本作では、島で撮影した写真を、泥染めを施した手漉きの芭蕉紙に印刷している―

Mikke Gallery will host the fifth instalment of the Mikke Curators' Competition Winners Exhibition from Friday 27 June to Monday 14 July 2025. curated by Keita Izumi, second-generation proprietor of Ginza Motoji.
Since its founding in 1979, Ginza Motoji has collaborated with textile artists, workshops, and production areas across Japan to convey the beauty and spirit of kimono culture to the present day. Keita Izumi aims to expand the possibilities of textile arts and connect them to the future. Through his work, including the 2022 launch of the HIRAKIproject, ‘FUYU’, and ‘Cloth in the Mud’, he has engaged with the memories of land nurtured by nature, confronting tradition flexibly, unbound by fixed notions.
In this exhibition, Keita Motoji serves as curator, attempting to capture the nature and people of Amami, and the future of dyeing and weaving, from multiple angles through new works by six artist groups.
The theme “Kōdo” (Reflection on the Land) embodies a perspective that, starting from the land of Amami, encourages a renewed engagement with the memories embedded in the land where people have lived, and with the materials, techniques, and values rooted there. The artists delve into Amami's nature and culture through their individual sensibilities, posing universal questions that resonate beyond this specific land. By deciphering and reweaving the land's “code”, they aim to discover new points of connection between past and future, the individual and the community, tradition and creation.
―During her 2023 residency on Amami Ōshima, Yamazaki deepened her understanding of the island's living culture and environment through encounters with its nature, festivals, and people's daily lives. For this work, photographs taken on the island are printed onto handmade banana fibre paper treated with mud dyeing―
